Ask for a written routine
Request the exact model’s water-care manual before purchase. Identify the required checks, approved products, water-change procedure, and filter schedule. Do not assume a filter or UV feature replaces the rest of the manufacturer’s sanitation routine.
Make consumables easy to compare
Record each approved supply, replacement interval from the manual, and current replacement price. Ask whether compatible parts are available locally and whether substitutions affect coverage. A low purchase price is less attractive if the required parts are hard to obtain.
Design for maintenance access
Check whether you can reach drains and filters after installation. Plan how you will empty the tub and where the water may be discharged. Confirm the correct shutdown process before leaving the system unused.
Choose the routine you will follow
If you cannot commit to the stated care schedule, delay the purchase or investigate a different format. This checklist is for buying decisions; it is not a chemical dosing guide. Follow the specific manual and get qualified help when the instructions are unclear.
Check your ownership budget
Use your actual quotes and expected costs to compare the first year with ongoing ownership.

Explore sauna and cold-plunge models, then request the exact manual and an installed-cost quote. Inclusion is an editorial starting point, not a best-product award.

Health and installation
Consult a qualified clinician before using heat or cold exposure, especially if you have a medical condition. Cold immersion can affect heart rhythm and blood pressure; evidence for broad health benefits remains limited. See Harvard Health’s discussion of cold-water risks. Follow the product manual and use qualified installation professionals.
